Van Buren  had the pleasure of hosting a Town Hall meeting to discuss the impact of the crisis in education funding in California.  Governor Jerry Brown, State Superintendent of Schools, Tom Torlakson, San Joaquin County Superintendent, Mick Founts, Ed.D., and SUSD Superintendent, Carl Toliver addressed the audience members.  Van Buren teachers; Misty Doyle, Debra Keyes, Beverly Logan, and Nicole Ackerman gave a personal account of how Van Buren School has been directly affected.  Governor Jerry Brown also visited Mrs. Livermore’s 1^st grade class.

Ms. Wyrick's art students participated in the Stockton Unified School District (SUSD) Got Milk Poster Contest.  Van Buren's students took ten 1st place winners.  Congratulation!
